The Age of AI
Artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape how we work, create, compete and make decisions. And we are still at the beginning.
In this big-picture keynote, Walter Pasquarelli explores how AI is restructuring the global economy, redefining creativity, and influencing the very fabric of society.
Building on Walter’s experience advising the global pioneers of AI development he will trace the extraordinary advancements, future possibilities, and ethical considerations that could define the decade ahead. He explores what this revolution could mean for labour markets, the future of creativity and the changing relationship between humans and machines, while confronting the harder questions that come with increasingly autonomous systems: what happens when AI can pursue goals, make decisions and act with less human oversight?
Drawing a clear line between what is already happening, what is becoming plausible and what remains uncertain, the keynote offers an inspiring and grounded view of where the AI revolution may be taking us.
Best for: Leadership conferences, company-wide events and audiences seeking a big-picture view of where AI is heading.
Key Outcomes:
● Understand the technological shifts driving the current AI revolution and where they may lead next.
● How AI is revolutionizing industries and altering traditional notions of creativity, economics, and authenticity.
● Which shifts are already under way, which are probable, and which are still open questions
● The societal implications and ethical challenges posed by the widespread adoption of AI.
● Envision the future landscape shaped by AI and its potential to redefine human experiences and interactions.

The Global AI Atlas
The AI revolution is being built at extraordinary scale. Trillions of dollars are flowing into chips, data centres, energy infrastructure, models and the supply chains needed to support them, creating a new industrial landscape.
In this keynote, Walter Pasquarelli maps that global build-out and the forces shaping it: where capital is flowing, what infrastructure AI depends on, and how governments and companies are positioning themselves for what comes next.
Drawing on his experience in developing the world’s first AI Index, his work with the OECD and advising world leaders, he explores how this build-out is becoming a source of geopolitical competition, with the United States, China, Europe and other major AI economies pursuing different strategies on investment, industrial policy, regulation and technological sovereignty. And as spending continues to accelerate, he turns to the question hanging over the entire boom: are we witnessing the construction of the next great technological platform, or the beginnings of an AI bubble?
Best for: Boards, leadership teams, investors, strategy audiences and internationally exposed businesses.
Key Outcomes:
● How investment, infrastructure, regulation and supply chains are shaping the global AI landscape.
● How to navigate the complexities of the global AI ecosystem and inform your strategic decisions effectively
● How different national AI strategies and regulatory environments may affect your organisation.
● The scale of capital at stake and the evidence on both sides of the bubble question

Synthetic Reality and the Crisis of Trust
We are entering a world in which almost anything we see, hear or interact with can be artificially created. A person's face can be replicated, their voice cloned and their words fabricated, while at the same time, millions of people are beginning to form relationships with AI chatbots. Walter Pasquarelli coined the term “synthetic reality” in 2019 to describe an emerging world in which something can feel real regardless of whether its origin is human or artificial.
Drawing on his experience in advising a presidential candidate during Europe’s first political deepfake attack, in this keynote, he explores what happens to trust, identity and human relationships when the distinction between real and artificial becomes increasingly difficult to make. From deepfakes and AI slop to provenance technologies, AI companions and synthetic personalities, the talk asks one of the defining questions of the AI age: what happens when reality itself becomes programmable?
Best for: Leadership, financial services, media, compliance, AML and trust & safety audiences exploring AI's impact on trust and society.
Key Outcomes:
● The state of deepfakes and AI-generated media: trends, emerging threat actors, and its use across industries
● Current developments in watermarking, provenance and content-credential tools
● How AI companions and chatbots are redefining trust, relationships and behaviour
● What organisations and individuals can do to protect themselves against deception and AI-generated fraud.

Your Questions, Answered
-
When Walter isn't on stage, much of his time is spent researching what is happening in AI and working with companies, governments and international organisations across the world on what it means for them.
His work sits somewhere between research, policy and strategy, usually with the same underlying question: what is actually changing, and which parts of it matter?
Next to this, he is a member of the OECD's AI expert network, a research affiliate at the Bennett School at the University of Cambridge, and a member of the Welsh Government's Strategic AI Advisory Board.
-
AI is one of those subjects where very different things can be true at the same time. The technology can be genuinely remarkable while some of the claims around it are overstated. The risks can be serious without every alarming headline being right.
Walter's work is driven by trying to make sense of that complexity.
That means looking closely at the evidence, understanding the wider economic and social consequences, and giving people enough context to form their own view about where AI is heading.
-
Walter has worked with organisations across technology, banking, insurance, legal services, consulting, healthcare, media and publishing, consumer goods, travel, education and the public sector.
That includes companies such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, Intel, HSBC, PwC, Coca-Cola and The Economist, alongside governments and international organisations including the OECD.
Different industries tend to arrive with rather different questions about AI, which is part of what makes the work interesting.

Yes. Each session is 100% bespoke and adapted to the audience, industry and purpose of the event.
He works with organisers beforehand to understand the audience, the industry and the questions that are actually relevant to them.
That might mean incorporating sector-specific primary data, the most cutting edge case studies, or addressing a recent development.
No two keynotes are ever the same, that’s his promise to you.
-
When you’re ready to sharpen your organisation’s approach to AI, Walter is here to support. Some engagements begin with a keynote. Others begin with a research question.
Walter's work can include original research, executive sessions and retreats, workshops, moderation, advisory work and longer-term upskilling programmes. These can be commissioned independently or combined as part of a wider engagement.
For example, a project might involve a keynote followed by an executive session. Another might start with research into how AI is affecting a particular industry, with the findings used for an executive retreat. For other organisations, the priority may be an upskilling programme delivered over several sessions.
The format depends on what you are trying to achieve, and Walter will work with you to find the right way to tackle it.
-
Yes. Walter is based in London and regularly travels internationally for speaking engagements. He has spoken in more than 25 countries across Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Whether your event is in London or on the other side of the world, get in touch with the location and date and Walter's team can confirm availability and travel requirements.
-
Yes. Walter delivers keynotes, executive sessions and workshops both in person and virtually.
Most major conference engagements take place in person, but virtual delivery can work particularly well for international teams, internal leadership sessions and programmes involving participants across several locations.
-
The easiest way is to get in touch through the booking form with some initial information about the event, including the date, location, audience and format.
From there, Walter or his team will get back to you to arrange a discovery call, discuss availability and understand your specific requirements.
If it feels like the right fit, Walter will follow up with a bespoke outline setting out the proposed speaking topic, structure and areas of focus.
None of this commits you to anything. You can decide to move forward, come back to it later or leave it there, with no hard feelings.
-
Yes. Walter typically has a conversation with organisers before any engagement. It helps him understand who will be in the room, what has prompted the event and which questions matter most to the audience.
-
Not necessarily. Short-notice engagements are possible when the diary allows.
Send through the date, location and format as early as possible. Once the date is agreed, things can move fairly quickly. Walter will do his best to work around your schedule! If he is not available, he will happily recommend another speaker who may be a good fit.
